The two-day conference aims to highlight on a national level how microfinance produces jobs, increases incomes, and creates opportunities to build stable and sustainable communities.
Background on Organizer:
Opportunity Fund is a California-based organization that aims to advance the economic well being of working people in the Bay Area. Opportunity Fund has provided USD 11 million in loans to over 700 entrepreneurs and has invested USD 160 million in the Bay Area.
Kiva was founded in 2005 to facilitate online lending from individuals to low-income entrepreneurs via microfinance institutions. As of November 2009, Kiva had facilitated over USD 100 million in loans.
ACCION USA is a nonprofit microfinance organization that offers business loans up to USD 50,000 and financial education throughout the United States.
