MICROCAPITAL BRIEF: Somalia Launches iRise Technology Innovation Hub to Support Youth Entrepreneurs

The government of Somalia recently created the iRise Hub, a technology innovation center intended to provide resources to young entrepreneurs. Located in the city of Mogadishu, the hub contains research and work space for Somali youth, who comprise of 80 percent of the country’s population. The iRise Hub also offers business training, mentorship programs, internet access, incubation support and project evaluation services. The initiative was inspired by existing technology innovation centers in Ethiopia, Kenya and Rwanda.
