responsAbility Social Investments AG, an investment company based in Switzerland, recently announced that it is investing an undisclosed amount in private healthcare provider Por Ti, Familia (PTF) of Peru. This is the first healthcare investment made through responsAbility Ventures I, a fund launched in January [1].
PTF, established in 2009, aims to offer “affordable” healthcare services to low- and middle-income populations in the capital city of Lima. It uses a “hubs and spoke” model to provide its services with more specialized equipment and specialists located in the hubs, while the spokes are retail locations with “simpler” infrastructure [2]. As of 2010, PTF reports having provided consultations to approximately 20,000 patients. Financial data on PTF is not available.
As of September 2011, responsAbility reported total assets under management of approximately USD 1 billion. This and other news on responsAbility appear in the quarterly newsletter “responsAbility Bulletin” that is available in English or Spanish.
