Customers of Easypaisa, a mobile money service of Telenor Microfinance Bank, are gaining access to financial services at the 800 Total Parco gas stations in Pakistan. The fuel stations have begun accepting Easypaisa to make purchases, and they are scheduled begin offering all Easypaisa services. These services include a range of money transfer, bill payment, savings and insurance offerings. Easypaisa customers could perform transactions such as cashing-in and cashing-out at 117,000 agents as of 2017. The service’s 2017 transaction volume was PKR 1.2 trillion (USD 11.5 billion).
Based in Pakistan, Telenor Microfinance Bank held PKR 37 billion (USD 355 million) in deposits for 8.1 million depositors and a gross loan portfolio of PKR 25 billion (USD 240 million) outstanding to 535,000 borrowers as of 2017. The bank is an affiliate of Telenor Pakistan, a telecommunications firm with 43 million customers. Telenor Pakistan, in turn, is a member of the Norway-based Telenor Group, which serves 170 million customers in Scandinavia and Asia.
