Original press release available here.

After nine years of offering all its rating reports for free, Planet Rating would like to advise its customers, readers and industry stakeholders that the new reports will be available for sale starting January 7th, 2008.

“This decision has been taken after a long and thoughtful period of reflection. Following the end of the Rating Fund and given the trend towards commercialization, we have decided to follow the standard practices of mainstream rating agencies by reserving the premium access to all new reports to subscribed users.”, said Minh-Huy Lai, Planet Rating’s Managing Director.

All investors and stakeholders wishing to access these new rating reports will have three access options: 1) an annual subscription service to access all new rating reports; 2) a customized subscription service according to geographic and volume preferences and 3) a pay-per-rating service.

“Subscribers will get priority access to all new reports under one year old. Planet Rating conducts over 90 ratings a year, a significant portion of which are top-tier and investment grade MFIs. Planet Rating also rates many promising smaller MFIs which are often targets of technical assistance providers or rural-focused funds,” added Minh- Huy Lai.

Planet Rating continues to strongly support the development of transparency for the industry. Therefore, all reports over one year old will be downloadable on our website www.planetrating.com.Paris-based Planet Rating is the global microfinance rating agency.
