November 4 – The Microfinance Information Exchange, Inc. (MIX) released the Peru Microfinance Analysis and Benchmarking Report, 2008. This report, only available in Spanish, gives an overview of the microfinance market in Peru, a country whose microfinance industry has deep roots.
The benchmark data, medians compiled from 49 MFIs throughout Peru, represents a total loan portfolio of USD 2.6 billion, and more than 2 million borrowers. This represents a growth of 32.4 percent in the number of borrowers and a 52 percent growth in loan portfolio.
