The institution received technical assistance from Grameen Bank, a microfinance bank established in Bangladesh, and began offering microloans in August 2005. Komida provides financing exclusively to women. As of December 31, 2011, the institution reported to the US-based nonprofit Microfinance Information Exchange (MIX) total assets of USD 7.7 million, a gross loan portfolio of USD 5.6 million, return on assets (ROA) of 1.95 percent, return on equity (ROE) of 3.80 percent and approximately 45,500 depositors with total deposits of USD 531,000. The institution had 91,000 active borrowers as of September 2012.
