Cost: Tickets for the conference cost CAD 99 (USD 90) with an early registration rate of CAD 79 (USD 72) available until September 10, 2014. Students are eligible for a discounted entry price of CAD 49 (USD 45). “Reception only” tickets are available at CAD 39 (USD 35).

Summary of Event: The event will cover a range of economic topics including poverty reduction, economic empowerment, sustainable development, corporate and charity collaboration, social responsibility and social entrepreneurship, which will be discussed from local, national and international perspectives. The conference aims to bring together representatives of charities, foundations, nonprofits, non-governmental organizations, corporate social responsibility (CSR) professionals, social entrepreneurs and the academic community to network and to share information.

About the Presenters: The keynote speakers are Ms Peggie Pelosi, founder of Canada-based corporate social responsibility consultancy Orenda Connections, and the author of “Corporate Karma,” a book that aims to motivate businesses to create a corporate philanthropy program; and Mr Wayne Dunn, the President and Founder of the Canada-based “CSR Training Institute” as well as Professor of Practice in CSR at McGill University and founding member of the Leadership Council of McGill University’s Institute for the Study of International Development.

Background on Organizers: The conference is jointly organized by Ambrose University College; the Fig Tree Charitable Foundation, a Canadian philanthropy that supports development projects and promotes discussion; and the Calgary Microcredit Conference, which aims to educate the public about microfinance through events and microfinance-related publications.
