Cost: Tickets to different portions of the event are sold separately. The price to attend the Saturday session is USD 50 plus USD 15 for those wishing to attend the brunch. Tickets for Sunday cost USD 115 with student rates ranging from USD 25 to USD 65. Ticket sales end on February 8, 2013, but in past years, the event has sold out several weeks in advance. Ticket purchases incur an additional handling fee that is generally under 10 percent of the ticket price.

Event Summary: The conference will explore the intersection between business and social impact. Run by students, the event seeks to bring together students, aspiring entrepreneurs and practitioners to showcase new ideas, to create a forum for networking and to strengthen the social enterprise industry. The keynote speakers are Jacqueline Novogratz, CEO and founder of the US-based Acumen Fund and Ben Rattray, CEO and founder of US-based Change.org. Acumen is a global nonprofit venture fund that addresses issues of poverty around the world. Change.org is an online platform for social action.

In addition to panel discussions, a career fair, networking sessions, keynote addresses and workshops there will also be a “Pitch for Change” competition. “Pitch for Change” is a contest that allows aspiring social entrepreneurs to present their ideas in a time-limited format. The deadline for submission of pitches is January 20, 2013. Prizes include USD 6,000 and consulting hours with social enterprise organizations.

Background on Organizers: The conference is organized by students from the Harvard Business School and the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, both graduate schools at Harvard University. This year marks the 14th annual Social Enterprise Conference.
