Summary of Event:

Planned to coincide with the Capacity Building for Partnerships at the same venue on February 20-22, 2012, the Invest in Mekong Region Marketplace provides a platform for investors to meet with potential investee microfinance institutions (MFIs). The event includes a panel discussion on the “Investment Landscape in Mekong Region” and a moderated marketplace with approximately 15 international investors focusing in the region and 30 MFIs from Cambodia, China, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Vietnam, Thailand and Burma.

Cost:

The fee to attend the Invest in Mekong Region event is USD 100. A standard combined fee of USD 300 is also available to those attending both the Invest in Mekong Region event and the Capacity Building for Partnerships Workshop. A reduced fee of USD 270 is available to members of the Cambodia Microfinance Association, the Microfinance Working Group for Laos PDR and the Vietnam Microfinance Working Group, and a fee of USD 255 is offered to Banking with the Poor (BWTP) Network members working in the Mekong Region.

Background on Organizer:

The Banking with the Poor Network (BWTP Network) is an Asian microfinance network based in Singapore. It is an initiative of the Australian NGO Foundation for Development Cooperation. The BWTP Network is an association of a “diverse range of microfinance stakeholders committed to improving the quality of life of the poor through promoting and facilitating their access to sustainable financial services.” It reports to, but does not list financial data on, the MIX Market website of the US-based NGO the Microfinance Information Exchange.
