Event Summary: This year’s conference theme is “Peace through Service”. New business models and other developments in microfinance will be covered such as TeleMedecin, a business involving sending phone images from developing countries to American doctors for diagnosis and treatment recommendations. There will also be 12 information booths that will display opportunities to become involved in microfinance projects around the world.

Background on Organizers: The Calgary Microcredit Conference was first held in 2008 and is co-hosted by the Rotarian Action Group for Microcredit (RAGM) and the Rotary District 5360 Microcredit Task Force. RAGM, the vehicle through which US-based service organization Rotary International conducts its microcredit activities, is a voluntary association of Rotary club members, known as Rotarians. It aims to educate fellow members, standardize partnerships between Rotarians and microbanks, and increase long-term Rotarian involvement in microfinance activities.
