Summary of Event: The theme of this conference is “Microfinance Enhancing Lives through Innovations,” and the event will focus on topics including: (1) the impact of mobile banking and agent-based banking for promoting financial inclusion; (2) the role of regulation in encouraging innovation; (3) the benefits of credit information sharing; (4) the role of youth and women in advancing social and economic development; (5) microfinance and socially-responsible enterprise; and (6) developments and trends observed in the East African microfinance industry over the past year. 

Cost: Organizations who register at least 5 delegates also will receive one free registration. After July 15, 2015, a registration rate of USD 500 is available for representatives of East African Community (EAC) countries and Association of Microfinance Institutions (AMFI) members, and a rate of USD 600 is available for international delegates. Before that date, various discounts are available for these groups.

Background on Organizers: The Association of Microfinance Institutions of Kenya (AMFIK), is an umbrella organization for Kenyan microfinance institutions (MFIs). AMFIK was established in 1999 with four main objectives: advocacy and lobbying, capacity building, performance monitoring, and networking and linkages. As of December 2010, AMFIK serves 6 million clients holding outstanding loan portfolios of USD 303 million and counts 43 member institutions.
