Event Summary: Cracking the Nut Africa aims to bring together international development practitioners, donors, bankers, investors, policy makers and other rural and agricultural finance professionals to share information. The conference will focus on the following topics: best practices for proper feeding and nutrition of a growing population; technologies and methodologies for reducing the costs and risks of serving rural clients; trends and influences affecting jobs and business opportunities in the rural sector; benefits of rural and agricultural investing; and the facilitation of positive behavioral changes amongst poor communities.

Background on Organizers: The conference will be hosted by AZMJ, a US-based consulting and investment advisory services firm that aims to promote international development and build local capacity; and the Integrated Improved Livelihoods Program “Ejo Heza”, which is managed by US-based nonprofit Global Communities (formerly known as CHF International) and backed by the Rwanda office of the US Agency for International Development (USAID). Global Communities, which operates in 25 developing countries, specializes in economic development; financing housing and micro-, small and medium-sized enterprises; urban management and infrastructure construction; global health; emergency response; women and youth services; and food security and agriculture. AZMJ provides services in areas including rural and agricultural finance, value chain finance, value chain strengthening, project management and small and medium-sized enterprise finance and development.
