Summary of Event:
This event, which is sponsored by US-based bank Citi and UK-based newspaper The Financial Times, will focus on the importance of financial education for poor people and the need for greater innovation and collaboration among stakeholders to make faster progress in boosting financial inclusion to reduce poverty. The event aims to increase the interest in financial education initiatives at the grassroots level and explore the use of technology and media in scaling programs and reducing the cost of service delivery. Other topics will include how financial education is being integrated into mobile banking and other branchless banking delivery channels; how mass media is being leveraged to increase the reach of financial education programs; the most effective ways to increase the financial knowledge and discipline of youth; and how financial education interventions can be adapted to align with Islamic finance.
