Summary of Event: This conference, organised by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in conjunction with the CGAP (Consultative Group to Assist the Poor) and the Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI), will address opportunities and challenges facing the digital finance industry by focussing on, amongst other topics, trends in digital financial inclusion, business models for accessing financial services and the cost and value of digital finance.

Asian Development Bank (ADB)
Established in 1966 and headquartered in Manila, the Philippines, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) is a development finance institution that consists of 67 member countries, of which 48 are from the Asia-Pacific region. ADB has three strategic priorities: to foster inclusive growth, to facilitate regional integration and to ensure environmentally sustainable growth. To accomplish these objectives, ADB uses loans, technical assistance programs, grants, equity investments and guarantees in member countries in the region. As of 2015, ADB reported total assets of USD 117 billion.

CGAP (Consultative Group to Assist the Poor)
CGAP (Consultative Group to Assist the Poor) is a US-based non-profit policy and research center dedicated to increasing financial access worldwide. It is supported by approximately 34 organizations seeking to advance financial inclusion. CGAP’s mission is to provide market intelligence; promote standards; and offer advisory services to governments, microfinance providers, donors and investors. As of June 2015, CGAP reported donor contributions totaling USD 24 million and total operating expenses of USD 24 million. CGAP is co-located with the offices of the World Bank Group in Washington DC.

Asian Development Bank Institute
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) Institute was established in 1997 as the think tank of ADB. It is based in Tokyo, Japan, and has 51 personnel representing approximately 15 nationalities. It was established to build the capacity, skills and knowledge to help reduce poverty and otherwise support the long-term growth and competitiveness of the Asia-Pacific region. In particular, ADBI provides intellectual input for policy makers by conducting research on development issues. For 2015, ADBI had a budget of approximately USD 15 million.
