Summary of Event: The purpose of this event is to assess the state of Islamic microfinance across the globe and explore the potential for its expansion in developing countries. Islamic microfinance is microfinance conducted according to Shariah law, which includes a prohibition on charging interest in favor of concepts like sharing profit and loss. The conference will cover such topics as integration of technology into Islamic microfinance institutions (MFIs), “sustainable growth” in the industry, and innovations including crowdfunding and youth development programs.

About the Organizer: AlHuda Center of Islamic Banking and Economics is a Pakistan-based organization that works to promote Islamic finance and microfinance around the world. AlHuda provides training services on Shariah law with regard to finance and banking, and it hosts the Global Islamic Microfinance Forum to bring together those involved with Islamic microfinance to discuss future developments in the industry.
