Summary of Event: The authors of “Social Cash Transfers and Financial Inclusion: Evidence from Four Countries,” Chris Bold, David Porteous and Sarah Rotman, will participate in this live web chat. The conversation will center on electronic delivery systems and how government-to-person (G2P) payment systems are affecting Brazil, Colombia, Mexico and South Africa. Electronic transfers have the potential to increase affordability for governments, profitability for banks and financial inclusion among recipients. Research by CGAP (Consultative Group to Assist the Poor) predicts that the next decade will see “nearly all” social transfer recipients obtaining payments electronically.
