Summary of Event: The aim of the symposium is to “critically reflect” on the work performed by ADA during it 20 years of operation. The theme of the event is “autonomy,” as ADA’s mission is to promote institutional autonomy for its partner organizations as they work to expand financial inclusion. In addition to keynote speeches, “thematic sessions” will be held with the following titles: (1) “The dimensions of institutional autonomy;” (2) “What kind of autonomy for microfinance?”; (3) “What governance for autonomy?” and (4) “The role of support organisations on the path to autonomy.” The symposium is followed by the opening ceremony of a photo exhibition entitled “Autonomy snapshot.” On the occasion of the opening ceremony, a debate on autonomy will be held between Mr Marc Bichler, diplomat and former Executive Secretary of United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF), and Mr Alpha Ouedraogo, former Director General of La Confédération des Institution Financières [The Confederation of Financial Institutions].
