Summary of Event: This event will include presentations and workshops addressing the following themes:

– Islamic microinsurance schemes;
– serving migrant workers;
– improving outreach through technology;
– client education;
– failures; and
– market analysis.

Background on Organizers: Established in April 2005 by Germany’s Munich Re, the Munich Re Foundation works to reduce risks associated with global population growth and globalization. As of 2011, Munich Re had EUR 248 billion (USD 318 billion) in total assets. The Microinsurance Network is a Luxembourg-based membership organization whose goal is to facilitate the expansion of insurance services to poor people by providing a platform for effective information sharing. As of 2013, the organization has 52 members worldwide.
