Summary of Event: This three-day discussion will address the challenges facing institutional stakeholders during periods of transition at microfinance institutions (MFIs). The discussion will expand upon a recently published paper by the Center for Financial Inclusion at ACCION International and Calmeadow, entitled, “Aligning Interests: Addressing Management and Stakeholder Incentives During MFI Transformation.”

About the Organizer: The US Agency for International Development (AID) is an independent federal government agency that provides economic and humanitarian assistance globally. It focuses on areas such as economic growth, agriculture and trade, global health, democracy, conflict prevention and humanitarian assistance. Under its Development Credit Authority (DCA), it provides partial credit guarantees that cover up to 50 percent of defaults on loans made by private financial institutions to institutions that lend to underserved borrowers.

About the Presenters: The discussion will be hosted by Ms Deborah Drake and moderated by Ms Beth Rhyne. Ms Drake is Vice President of Investment Policy and Analysis at ACCION International. Ms Rhyne is Managing Director of the Center for Financial Inclusion at ACCION International.
