Summary of Event: This risk management conference will have a particular focus on the similarities and differences between regions of the world, representing various phases of development, political systems, and societal and environmental conditions.

Background on Organizer: The Global Risk Forum (GRF) Davos aims to serve as an exchange center for the application of risk management strategies, tools and practical solutions. GRF Davos aims to reduce risk to protect life, property, environment, infrastructure and business.

Following the International Disaster and Risk Conference Davos 2008, GRF Davos announced the launch of the book, “Microfinance and Disaster Reduction”. The book will highlight the strong existing ties between risk management and microfinance tools, namely microinsurance and microcredit. The work is ongoing.

Schedule: A detailed program has not yet been published.

Who Is Invited to Attend: Academics, researchers, policy makers and practitioners and experts from the private sector.

About the Presenters: Experts are encouraged to submit abstracts (max. 300 words) on the following topics: risk reduction and disaster management; environment, resources and climate change; science and education; and risk governance, society and health. The program committee will decide on the acceptance of presentations by January 15, 2010.
