Cost: The cost of the event is AUD 300 (USD 283) with an early-bird rate of AUD 225 (USD 212) available through July 21, 2013. Additional discounts are available for Microfinance Pasifika Network members and groups of four or more.

Event Summary: PMW 2013 is a series of workshops, field visits, seminars and formal conference sessions focusing on providers of financial services for poor people in the Pacific region. Panel session topics are to include microinsurance, other forms of financial inclusion and microfinance policy and regulation. Workshop topics are to include social performance management; transitioning microenterprises into small and medium-sized enterprises; microfinance products for agriculture; building the capacity of non-bank financial institutions through market research, client segmentation, product design and client assessment; mobile and branchless banking; integrating financial literacy into schools; and promoting women in leadership. The previous PMW was held in 2011.

Background on Organizers: Founded in 2006, Microfinance Pasifika Network (MFPN) is an initiative of the Foundation for Development Cooperation (FDC), an Australia-based nonprofit that conducts research, pilots and promotes collaborative market-based approaches to international development. MFPN is an alliance of 24 financial institution members, 10 provisional members and 15 associated organizations, including NGOs and commercial banks from Australia, Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Tonga and Vanuatu.
