MICROCAPITAL EVENT: 2010 CGAP Microfinance Photography Contest is Open for Entries

CGAP (Consultative Group to Assist the Poor) announces that its 2010 microfinance photography contest is open for entries. This year’s contest focus is how microfinance touches the world, and the contest organizers are interested in photographs which reflect how microfinance has impacted the clients it serves or the world.

Judging:
A total of 24 finalists will be selected for the contest. Judges will award first, second and third place winners. A winning photo taken in a developing country in each of six regions will also be selected. An explanation of the photo’s story is required to be submitted with the photo and may be considered by the judges.

Judges will include professional photographers and microfinance leaders.
Entries will be judged on originality, technical excellence, composition, overall impact and artistic merit.

Deadline:
All entries, whether submitted electronically or mailed, must be received by CGAP before noon EST on September 15, 2010.

Awards:
One grand prize winning package will include either a microfinance training scholarship to the Boulder Program in Turin, Italy, or another development training opportunity agreed with CGAP up to a maximum value of USD 5,000, or a USD 2,000 gift certificate for photography equipment and accessories.

Other runner-up and regional photography winners will be selected.
