Women Advancing Microfinance New York (WAM-NY), a chapter of WAM International, a global network that supports women in microfinance, is accepting applications through March for its 2013 scholarship program. The scholarship offers selected female practitioners the opportunity to attend training sessions or workshops to enhance their skills and build their leadership abilities. To be considered for selection, women must have three years of microfinance experience and must now be employed by a microfinance institution at which they have worked for at least the last year.
In 2012, WAM-NY received 40 applications and offered scholarships to eight women. A list of these women, the training opportunities that they participated in and details on applying for the 2013 scholarships can be found at: http://www.wamny.org/scholarships.html.
