MICROCAPITAL BRIEF: Steve Hollingworth to Succeed Chris Dunford as President and CEO of Freedom from Hunger, Says “Microfinance Groups can Serve as Catalyst for Major Changes”

Freedom from Hunger, a US-based nonprofit, recently announced that Mr Steve Hollingworth will be the new president and chief executive officer (CEO) of the organization after the retirement of Mr Chris Dunford who has held the position for approximately 20 years [1]. Mr Hollingworth, who has previous experience working with US-based international development organization CARE, said “I have a passion for and extensive experience in microfinance and know how microfinance groups can serve as catalysts for major changes in their communities.”

As of 2010, Freedom from Hunger reports that it works with 112 partner organizations in 17 countries to deliver microfinance, education and health protection services to 2.4 million women. The organization reports total assets of USD 5.9 million.
