MICROCAPITAL BRIEF: Risk Management Initiative in Microfinance (RIM) Announces Launch of Website Promoting Uniform Standards

Risk Management Initiative in Microfinance (RIM), a platform that promotes adoption of risk management standards in microfinance, has announced the launch of its official website, which aims to provide a “hub for the dissemination of risk management standards, information sharing and industry cooperation” [1]. In addition to providing information and updates on RIM, the website will offer RIM’s Risk Management Graduation Model, a “pathways-based, best practices standard” for risk management, as a free download to microfinance institutions (MFIs). This model includes a diagnostic tool for assessing MFIs’ risk management capabilities and benchmark them against best practices. The tool also facilitates the development of a “Graduation Path” for improvement in the risk areas identified by the MFI.

The RIM website is available at http://www.riminitiative.org
