MICROCAPITAL BRIEF: ProCredit Bank Ukraine Opens New Branch in Kharkiv

ProCredit Bank Ukraine, a microfinance institution (MFI) and member of Germany’s ProCredit Holding, recently opened a new branch in the city of Kharkiv. The branch offers services for small and medium-sized businesses as well as other products intended to promote a savings culture in the region.

For the year 2011, ProCredit Bank Ukraine reported to the US-based nonprofit Microfinance Information Exchange (MIX) total assets of USD 294 million, a gross loan portfolio of USD 228 million, deposits of USD 191 million, return on assets (ROA) of .99 percent, return on equity (ROE) of 10 percent, approximately 14,500 active borrowers and 134,000 depositors. For the year 2011, ProCredit Holding, which has operations in 21 countries, reported total assets of EUR 5.49 billion (USD 7.18 billion), a gross loan portfolio of EUR 4.03 billion (USD 5.27 billion), 2.92 million clients customer deposits of 3.42 billion, 3.65 million deposit accounts and return on equity (ROE) of 10.4 percent
