MICROCAPITAL BRIEF: Prevoir Kampuchea Micro-life Insurance (PKMI) Offering Health Microinsurance in Cambodia

Prevoir Kampuchea Micro-life Insurance Plc (PKMI), a subsidiary of French insurance company Group Prevoir (GP), has started operations reportedly becoming the first microinsurance provider in Cambodia. GP has been preparing the project since receiving its license in December 2011 as was reported by MicroCapital at the time. PKMI offers “products that insure access to health care for Cambodians with low-income.” PKMI’s strategy includes adding “partnerships with local distributors such as microfinance institutions, non-government organisations and banks” [1] [2].

As of 2011, Group Prevoir has assets of USD 4.1 billion and 300,000 clients.

About Prevoir Kampuchea Micro-life Insurance Plc (PKMI): Launched in 2011, PKMI is a micro-life insurance firm registered in Cambodia. PKMI is a subsidiary of French insurance company Group Prevoir (GP). PKMI does not report to the US-based nonprofit Microfinance Information Exchange (MIX) and financial information on the firm is not otherwise available.

About Group Prevoir (GP): Established in 1910 in France, GP is a French insurance company specializing in life insurance for people with low to middle incomes. As of 2011, GP has assets of USD 4.1 billion and 300,000 clients.
