According to a study by PlaNIS, a PlaNet Finance entity that advises microfinance investment funds, European funds dedicated to microfinance have increased their assets by 16 percent in 2009.This compares to a 31 percent growth in 2008. Earning rates of European funds dedicated to microfinance were found to be somewhere between 1.74 percent and 2.31 percent in 2009, compared to an average of 4 percent for the decade up until 2009. Overall, European funds dedicated to “socially responsible investments (SRIs)” have surpassed USD 6 billion.
