MicroSave, a technical assistance, training and technical resource center for microfinance established in Uganda in 1998, has released the third publication under its Optimising Performance and Efficiency (OPE) Series, entitled “The Savings Booklet.” The purpose of the OPE Series is “providing microfinance practitioners with practical and actionable advice.” This third publication, as its name suggests, will “stress… the need for savings services… to the poor.” The booklet combines a set of publications and is divided into three sections: “The Demand for Savings Services Amongst the Poor,” “Opportunities and Challenges of Supplying Savings Servics to the Poor” and “Regulatory Issues” [1]. The booklet is currently only available to MicroSave website members at: http://www.microsave.org/system/files/briefing_notes/Savings_Booklet.pdf.
