The Microinsurance Network held its first member meeting in Germany on June 2-3, 2010. 35 members from 23 different organizations attended the event. The group identified various issues that need addressing in the microinsurance field such as “client protection, social performance, impact… public-private partnership, climate change and the need for a microinsurance marketplace” [1]. The Microinsurance Network was first established in 2002 as the CGAP Working Group on Microinsurance.

The Microinsurance Network was first established in 2002 as the CGAP Working Group on Microinsurance. The organization aims to promote the development of good-value insurance products for low-income populations by providing a platform for information sharing and stakeholder coordination. It has 52 member organizations. There is no financial information available on the organization.
