MICROCAPITAL BRIEF: Microfinance Information Exchange (MIX) Introduces FINclusion Lab, Offering Country-Specific Financial Inclusion Data Visualization and Analysis

The Microfinance Information Exchange (MIX), a US-based nonprofit, recently announced the launch of FINclusion Lab, a platform that provides interactive visual interpretation and analysis of country-specific data pertaining to financial services activities in Africa, Asia and Latin America [1]. The platform, currently in its “beta” testing stage, is geared toward helping financial service providers, policy makers, regulators and other development professionals assess the “access, quality, and usage of financial services” to enable better decision making and coordination among agencies seeking to increase financial inclusion. The service draws on data collected since 2012.

About Microfinance Information Exchange (MIX): Established in 2002, Microfinance Information Exchange (MIX) is a nonprofit organization with headquarters in Washington, DC, and regional offices in Peru, Senegal, India and Indonesia. MIX provides two platforms for market insights and data analysis: MIX Market and FINclusion Lab. MIX Market provides detailed financial and social performance information from microfinance institutions (MFIs), as well as business information from market facilitators, donor organizations and investors in microfinance. FINclusion Lab provides financial services data visualization and analysis to enable decision makers to better identify challenges and gaps in financial inclusion and the solutions thereof. MIX was founded by CGAP (Consultative Group to Assist the Poor) and is sponsored by organizations the including Citi Foundation, Deutsche Bank Americas Foundation, International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. MIX reported an annual budget of USD 2.6 million for 2012 [2].
