The Microfinance Information Exchange (MIX), a US-based nonprofit organization that runs the MIX Market online database of microfinance institutions (MFIs), recently announced that it currently collects self-reported information from 2,000 MFIs based in 110 countries, representing 92 million borrowers. As of July 2011, 440 MFIs have also provided social performance data and approximately 300 MFIs have uploaded interim financial information.
MIX provides detailed financial and social performance information from MFIs, as well as business information from market facilitators, donor organizations and investors in microfinance. Each of the reporting MFIs has a unique profile that contains basic organizational details in addition to annual financial performance information, which is provided by MFIs through the MIX submission form.
