The Institute for Financial Management and Research (IFMR), a nonprofit organization based in India, recently announced that it is planning to roll out an interactive map service offering information to the public on its subsidiary microfinance institution (MFI), Kshetriya Gramin Financial Services (KGFS).
The service, which is soon to be made available on the IFMR website, will be able to perform basic descriptive analysis such as count, mean and variance on the map at the macro level and answer queries across various parameters such as transaction frequency of customers in a particular village, outstanding loan portfolio, insurance customers within 2 kilometers from branch location and others.
It is unclear whether the service would be expanded to incorporate data from other MFIs.
