At the Lagos State Conference on Credit Awareness, Credit Awareness Nigeria, a nonprofit organization which aims to promote financial literacy, recently called on banks to provide low-income groups with better access to financial services.
Participants in the conference argued that banks should make use of the local network of cooperatives to disburse financial products and also to use terms that can be are more easily understood.
About Credit Awareness Nigeria:
Credit Awareness Nigeria is a nonprofit organization based in Nigeria that aims to promote financial literacy and credit awareness among low-income groups. The organization launched a Credit Awareness campaign in 2010 that brings together microfinance institutions (MFIs), financial sector development organizations and regulators to educate consumers about financial services.
