CGAP (Consultative Group to Assist the Poor), a US-based, nonprofit policy and research center that aims to facilitate the expansion of financial access, recently has granted a mandate to manage nine of its training modules in African countries in which French is a primary language to ADA, a Luxembourg-based NGO that promotes inclusive finance, and the African Microfinance Network (AFMIN), an Abidjan-based association of 24 networks of African microfinance institutions (MFIs). Pursuant to the agreement, ADA and AFMIN will deliver training sessions in partnership with 18 local training institutes and 125 certified trainers in 13 countries.
The training modules, known by their project title “Capacity Building Program for Francophone Africa (CAPAF),” are intended to offer “practical and relevant”[1] knowledge near to MFIs and at a reduced cost in the following areas: accounting, business planning and financial projections, delinquency management and interest rate setting, financial analysis, governance, operational risk management and product development. The training courses are organized upon request by ADA and AFMIN and their partner training institutes.
