The Basel Committee on Banking Supervision, a committee established by the central bank governors of the Group of Ten countries, has issued for consultation a report entitled “Microfinance Activities and the Core Principles for Effective Banking Supervision.” The report contains supervisory guidance on microfinance activities and reviews practices on regulating and supervising such activities.
The committee requests that comments on the report be submitted by May 7 2010 by e-mail (baselcommittee@bis.org) or post (Secretariat of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision, Bank for International Settlements, CH-4002 Basel, Switzerland).
