Airtel Ghana, a subsidiary of Indian telecommunications company Bharti Airtel, and Ghana Post, the country’s postal service provider, reportedly have announced a partnership to expand the availability of the Airtel Money service from the previous 150 to all 350 Ghana Post outlets nationwide. Through the outlets, customers of the mobile money service will be able to send and receive money to other users via short message service (text messaging) and make transfers to bank accounts including to pay bills.
As of December 2013, Bharti Airtel had approximately 287 million subscribers in 20 countries across Africa and Asia.
