CGAP (Consultative Group to Assist the Poor), a US-based, nonprofit policy and research center that aims to facilitate the expansion of financial access, is seeking original photographs for its annual competition, which aims to highlight the positive effects of microfinance internationally.
This year, the contest is focusing on themes of mobile money; innovations in digital finance; economic empowerment of female entrepreneurs; resilience against extreme poverty, natural disasters, or conflict; and small businesses. The deadline is September 7, 2016. Up to 20 entries may be submitted per person.
The prizes for the winning entries are gift certificates for photography equipment valued at USD 2,000 for first place, USD 500 for second place, USD 250 for third place, USD 250 for the winner of the “People’s Choice” award, USD 200 for each of the regional winners and four “Special Mentions”, and USD 100 for five to eight finalists. The photographs of the first place winner will be displayed at Times Square, New York.
Submissions must be uploaded online before midnight eastern US time on September 7, 2016 with the form located at https://photocontest.cgap.org/users/login.
