MICROCAPITAL BRIEF: 2013 CGAP (Consultative Group to Assist the Poor) Microfinance Photo Contest Accepting Entries Through October 2

CGAP (Consultative Group to Assist the Poor), a US-based, nonprofit policy and research center that aims to facilitate the provision of financial access to poor people, has opened its annual photo contest and seeks entries of original images that capture the impact of microfinance on poor households. Participants may submit up to 20 images. [1]

The panel of judges will include professional photographers and photo editors, and it will select first-, second- and third-place winners as well as special mentions based on originality, technical excellence, composition, overall impact and artistic merit.

The prizes are gift certificates for photography equipment valued at USD 2,000 for the winners of first place and a “people’s choice” award, USD 500 for second place, USD 250 for third place, USD 200 for regional winners, and USD 50 for all 14 finalists.

Submissions must be submitted online before midnight eastern US time on October 2, 2013.

CGAP (Consultative Group to Assist the Poor) is a US-based nonprofit policy and research center dedicated to increasing financial access to poor people worldwide. CGAP is supported by approximately 40 development agencies and private foundations. Its mission is to provide market intelligence, to promote standards and to offer advisory services to governments, microfinance providers, donors and investors.
