Overview:
Established in 1956, the Reserve Bank of Zambia is the central bank of the Zambia.
Description:
The Reserve Bank of Zambia regulates commercial banks, microfinance institutions (MFIs) and credit unions. Microfinance regulations were passed in January 2006. All MFIs currently operating must now apply for a license under these regulations (MF Regs, Art. 50).
