Brief Description

The object of this Fund is to offer economic opportunities to the poorest sectors of the population in the Less Developed Countries, so that they can escape poverty by themselves.

We define microfinance as the provision of financial services suitable for large numbers of people who are reduced to poverty and have no access to the official banking system, particularly owners of micro-enterprises and women.

These services are provided by specialist financial intermediaries who are crucial to the success of any microfinance development strategy, and because of this, the Fundació Un Sol Món has decided to support this specialist field with two complementary programmes:

1. A programme designed to promote microfinance in Africa and Latin America by providing direct and specific financial and technical support to Microfinance Institutions (MFIs) working in either continent.

2. A programme that links migrant remittances and development cooperation. It aims to provide support to Ecuadorian immigrants in Spain through different services of guidance, information, training and advising for creating their own businesses in Ecuador.
