Brief Description

This is a part of ACCION International. The Fund, introduced in January 2005, is offered by ACCION International, an American non-profit organization which specializes in microfinance, founded in 1961. ACCION’s lines of business include microlending, technical assistance, and credit scoring for microenterprises. The Global Bridge Fund operates the same way as ACCION’s Latin American Bridge Fund, but “on a much more globle, ample, and flexible scale”, according to ACCION. The description on MIX states that the Fund “was designed to support microfinance institutions located in Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa and other regions of the world where ACCION may expand as part of its strategic mission. The fund guarantees not only short-term lines of credit but also the issuance, by the micro finance institutions, of short-term fixed-income instruments.”
